SOUND TIGERS SIGN GOALIE MAXIME OUELLET
Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have signed veteran goaltender Maxime Ouellet to a one-year contract. The 26 year-old Ouellet will compete with Michael Mole and recently signed Joey MacDonald for the two vacant goaltending spots with the Sound Tigers this upcoming season.
Ouellet has played the majority of his professional career with the Portland Pirates. Over the course of four seasons with Portland, Ouellet posted a 55-68-18 record. A first round draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1999, Ouellet has played for the Flyers and Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. In 12 career NHL games, he has a 2-6-1 record.
"We have created a competitive goaltending atmosphere for both the Islanders and Sound Tigers training camps," Sound Tigers president Howard Saffan said. "Max's signing will insure we have the two best net-minders filling our crease for each respective team."
Ouellet's best season was in 2002-03 with the Pirates when he had a 22-16-7 record and a 2.40 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. Along with Portland, Ouellet, who stands at 6'2, 194 pounds, has played for the Philadelphia Phantoms, Hershey Bears and Manitoba Moose.
"I look forward to competing for a spot in training camp," Ouellet said. "I plan on coming into camp in my best shape and ready to help the team win games next season."

Correction: The Soundtigers signed him, not hte Islanders. For him to be brought up, the islanders would have to sign him to a two way contract and pay him NHL league minumum.
Anyway, I dont know why we signed up another goalie with no open goaltender spots.
