HAMILTON & CLOUTIER RETURNING TO SOUND TIGERS Pair slated to rejoin team prior to three-game weekend
BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced forward Jeff Hamilton and goaltender Frederic Cloutier will return to the team from the big club. Hamilton has two goals, four assists, six points and eight penalty minutes in 11 NHL games with the Islanders, as well as 11 goals, 11 assists, 22 points and 14 penalty minutes in 17 AHL games with the Sound Tigers this season.
Cloutier was recalled from the ECHL's Pensacola Ice Pilots on January 2nd, stopped 30 shots for the first AHL shutout of his career in a 1-0 home win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on January 4th and was released from his AHL contract in order to sign an NHL deal with the Islanders last Thursday, January 5th. He dressed as the backup to former Sound Tiger Wade Dubielewicz in three NHL games with the Islanders. Cloutier is 1-1 with the one shutout, a 2.15 goals against average and a .938 save percentage in three appearances with the Sound Tigers, as well as 5-6-2 with a 3.75 goals against average and .910 save percentage in 14 games with Pensacola this season.
