HAMILTON & COLLINS BACK FROM ISLANDERS Pair played on Long Island Wednesday, practiced in Bridgeport Thursday
BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey Leagueís New York Islanders, have announced the return of forwards Jeff Hamilton and Rob Collins from the big club. Hamilton and Collins were recalled by the Islanders Wednesday, played in their 4-2 home win over the New Jersey Devils and returned to practice with the Sound Tigers Thursday morning at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. Hamilton scored his first NHL goal this past Saturday and also has three assists, four points and six penalty minutes in three games with the Islanders this year. His third assist was notched on the game-winning, power-play goal by former Sound Tiger Trent Hunter in the Islanders' 4-2 home victory over the New Jersey Devils Wednesday. Hamilton leads the Sound Tigers with ten goals and also has nine assists, 19 points and 12 penalty minutes in 15 AHL games this season.
Collins made his NHL debut Saturday and posted his first NHL point with an assist on a goal by former Sound Tiger Eric Godard this past Monday in Toronto.Ý He also scored his first NHL goal Monday. Collins has two points in three games with the Islanders this year. He leads the Sound Tigers with 19 assists and 26 points and also has seven goals and 26 penalty minutes in 27 AHL games this season
