SOUND TIGERS SIGN MIKE JARMUTH Blueliner coming off solid rookie season in ECHL
BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, have announced the signing of defenseman Mike Jarmuth. Jarmuth will travel with the Islanders to Nova Scotia for the start of their training camp this week. Jarmuth, 23, posted 13 goals, 23 assists, 36 points and 24 penalty minutes in 72 games last season as a rookie with the Mississippi Sea Wolves, the Sound Tigers’ new ECHL affiliate. The 6’0’’ 205-pounder from Monkton, Ontario also had two assists and two penalty minutes in eight games with the United Hockey League’s Kalamazoo Wings at the end of the 2003-04 season after completing his four-year (2000-04) collegiate career at Western Michigan University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Jarmuth totaled 13 goals, 56 assists and 69 points in 143 career games at Western Michigan.
The Sound Tigers will celebrate their fifth anniversary in Bridgeport as the top affiliate of the Islanders in 2005-06. They will open the regular season with the first of four straight road games when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday, October 5th. Their first home games at Bridgeport’s Arena at Harbor Yard will be Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd when they host the Portland Pirates and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
