BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, have announced the signing of forward Joe Tallari. Tallari, 24, played 11 impressive games for the Sound Tigers on a professional tryout contract late last season notching four goals, three assists, seven points and two penalty minutes. Before joining the Sound Tigers, the 6’0’’ 195-pounder from Thunder Bay, Ontario posted a team-leading 32 goals, as well as 19 assists, 51 points and 56 penalty minutes in 66 games with the ECHL’s Johnstown Chiefs and also appeared in one AHL game with the Cleveland Barons last season. Tallari played in one AHL game with the Hartford Wolf Pack after completing his fourth and final season with Niagara University of College Hockey America in 2003-04. He was a finalist for the 2002-03 Hobey Baker Award as the nation’s top collegiate hockey player after leading the CHA in scoring with 55 points on 26 goals and 29 assists as a junior. Tallari also tied for Niagara’s scoring lead with 28 points as a sophomore in 2001-02.
