SOUND TIGERS & ISLANDERS TEAM WITH MISSISSIPPI SEA WOLVES
BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers and their National Hockey League affiliate, the New York Islanders, have announced an affiliation with the ECHL’s Mississippi Sea Wolves.
“We're delighted to form a partnership with the Sea Wolves franchise," said Sound Tigers and Islanders general manager Mike Milbury. "In Coach Walby, Mississippi is led by a man who knows how to teach and develop players. This is an affiliation that will benefit all three teams involved-- the Islanders, our AHL affiliate in Bridgeport and our new partners with the Sea Wolves.”
"This is significant partnership for Mississippi Sea Wolves hockey," said Steffon Walby, Mississippi Sea Wolves head coach and director of hockey operations. "With the Islanders' winning tradition and the Sound Tigers’ commitment to winning, we are thrilled that our affiliations have come together. Being given the opportunity to develop exciting Islanders prospects at the ECHL level is an honor for our organization, and they will be fun for our fans to follow. We are looking forward to a great working relationship and an exciting season."
