August 24, 2005 Back to Releases Back to Results SOUND TIGERS SIGN RW CHRIS THOMPSON Veteran forward brings grit & leadership BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, have announced the signing of right wing Chris Thompson. Thompson, 27, has played 440 games, including 23 in the AHL, during a seven-year professional career. His AHL experience includes parts of two seasons (2002-04) with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and one apiece with the Albany River Rats (1998-99) and Cleveland Barons (2001-02). The 6’2’’ 205-pounder from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan posted 19 goals, 32 assists, 51 points and a team-high 172 penalty minutes in 68 games as captain of the ECHL’s Louisiana IceGators last season. Thompson has totaled 108 goals, 164 assists, 272 points and 1,492 penalty minutes in the AHL, ECHL and United Hockey League.
