Bridgeport, Conn. - The New York Islanders have signed right wing Tim Jackman to a one-year deal. The 6'4, 210 pound 26-year old Jackman brings a lot of experience, having played in both the American and National Hockey League the past five seasons. Jackman spent last season as a member of the Los Angeles Kings organization playing five games with the Kings and 69 games with their AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, compiling 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points and 143 penalty minutes.
"Tim will add the important element of the power forward to our team next season," Sound Tigers president Howard Saffan said. "He brings a high level of commitment, grit and accountability to our lineup."
During last season's Calder Cup playoffs, Jackman scored three goals and three assists in 16 games for the Monarchs. His biggest goal came in Game 6 of the Monarchs second round series against the Providence Bruins when he scored the game/series clinching goal a little over six minutes into the second period. Over the course of the Minot, North Dakota native's AHL career, he has registered 74 goals and 71 assists with a total of 510 penalty minutes in 351 games. In 32 NHL games, with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings, Jackman has a total of one goal and two assists with 47 penalty minutes.
"I could not be happier joining the New York Islanders organization," Jackman said. "I gained a lot of experience playing deep into the playoffs with the Monarchs last season and look to transfer my leadership qualities to the Sound Tigers."
