The Pensacola Ice Pilots will no longer call the Civic Center home after this season ends. The Escambia County Commission is set to approve a lease termination when it meets tonight. It brings an end to a decade of the minor league hockey team skating at the Pensacola Civic Center. The lease has one year remaining. The county will let the team out of the lease, as long as the team doesnt play next season in another city. We have done our part to try to keep them here, County Administrator George Touart said. Dwindling attendance contributed to the decision to terminate the lease, Touart said. The Ice Pilots last home game is April 7. source: www.pensacolanewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070326/NEWS01/70326030/1006

Wow, that sucks. I wonder what team the Isles will affiliate with next season. I don't think the Texas Wildcatters have an NHL team. They're doing pretty good this season too.

Well the Mississippi Sea Dogs are back in the league after they were gone for two seasons after hurricane katrina. The Islanders used Miss as thier affiliate before the hurricane, and when the team closed down for repairs, tehy Isles moved on to Pensacola. I wonder if they will renew their realtionship with Mississippi.
Whatever they do, hopefully whoever they pick, sticks around the league for a few seasons. We seem to be the ECHL affiliate killer!
