JASON BLAKE IS AN ALL-STAR!
Will Represent Isles on East All-Stars
Left wing Jason Blake will represent the Islanders at the 2007 NHL All-Star Game in Dallas, TX on January 24 at the American Airlines Center. This will be Blake's first appearance in the All-Star Game. Blake is having a career-season recording a team-leading 23 goals with 18 assists for 41 points while leading the team in scoring. He is tied for ninth in the league in goals scored and is tied for fifth in power play goals.
"This is definitely one of the highlights of my career," said Blake. "Being able to be a part of the whole event is exciting and something I'm really looking forward to. It's always been one of my goals to play in this game and I can't wait for the opportunity to skate with some of the best players in the league."
Added Islanders head coach Ted Nolan: "Jason has been the heart-and-soul of our team this year and there is no one better to represent us in Dallas. Everyone in our organization is happy and trilled for Jason because he deserves to go. I can't wait to see him play on such a big stage."
The 33-year-old Moorhead, MN native is in his eighth NHL season and sixth with the Islanders. He was acquired from Los Angeles for a 2002 fifth-round draft pick on January 3, 2001. Blake represented the United States at the 2000 World Championships, the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.
In 469 NHL games, Blake has scored 117 goals with 141 assists for 258 points. Below is roster of both All-Star Teams.
