www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=186166&hubname=nhlNew York Islanders captain and leading scorer Alexei Yashin will be out of the lineup for 2-4 weeks with a sprained knee, the team reported today. Yashin was injured in the third period of the Islanders' 4-1 win over Washington on Saturday night. "It's a big loss, no doubt, especially with Yash playing so well, but every team has to deal with injuries," said Islanders head coach Ted Nolan. "It's up to everyone else to step up their games and take advantage of the opportunities they're provided." Yashin has 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points in 22 games this season. The Islanders recalled veteran forward Eric Boguniecki from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League to take Yashin's spot in the lineup.

Freakin Bradley took his knee out on purpose, watch how he slyly just put it infront of Yashin. Somebody should go after him.

2 things: 3 things:
1) Friggin Bradley is DEAD! 2) I knew Bougenieki would be the first one called up 3) I wanted to see Comeau brought up!

Viktor Kozlov will move into Yashin's role at center on the top line with Blake and Chris Simon and also will get Yashin's power-play time, starting tonight in PIttsburgh. The Islanders called up veteran Eric Boguniecki from Bridgeport and will plug him into the fourth line with Shawn Bates and Richard Park. Forward Arron Asham moves up from the fourth line to replace Kozlov on the third line with Mike Sillinger and Andy Hilbert.
Asked why he didn't call up more of a scoring forward, such as Robert Nilsson or Jeff Tambellini, from Bridgeport, Nolan said the Isles traded for Boguniecki earlier this season for just such a situation. "We have people right here who can step up and get extra minutes," Nolan said.
"Arron Asham has been playing great the last little while. We'll give him more minutes as opposed to taking minutes away from guys who are here and deserving of it. Kozlov has been playing great hockey lately, so, give him extra minutes. Bates and Park have been doing a majority of the penalty-killing, so, they're getting their minutes. We felt we have what we need right now."
