www.soundtigers.com/news/release_102406.htmJoins Sound Tigers for Friday's Game at Providence(October 24) The New York Islanders have reassigned second-year defenseman Chris Campoli to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL for conditioning. Campoli has been out of action since early October with a pulled groin. "The team feels that Chris just needs some time in Bridgeport to get his feet wet again," said Islanders General Manager Garth Snow. "He's been out of action for almost a month now and we want him to get some games under his belt and get his legs back. We look forward to getting Chris back in an Islanders uniform." Last season, Campoli appeared in 80 games for the Islanders and became the sixth Islanders rookie defenseman to record 30-or-more points in their first NHL season. His final totals were nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points and finished the year tied for sixth on the team in scoring and first among Islander rookies. Campoli, 22, was drafted in the seventh round (227th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He spent his first season of professional hockey in the AHL in 2004-05 with Bridgeport and finished second on the team in points with 49. He led all rookie AHL defensemen in goals with 15 and in points. Campoli was also selected to the AHL's All-Rookie Team.

He's just coming off an injury and they are trying to ease him back onto the ice by putting him with the Sound tigers, if he does alright, he'll move up to the Islanders.

Campoli back to Bridgeport
Second-year defenseman Chris Campoli has been assigned to the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers by their parent club, the NHL's New York Islanders. Campoli, who was out of action for most of the month of October with a pulled groin, was in Bridgeport for conditioning and played seven games with the Sound Tigers from Oct. 27 through Nov. 12. Campoli registered assists in games against Philadelphia on Nov. 10 and Worcester on Nov. 12. In 2004-05, his first professional season, Campoli was second on the Sound Tigers with 49 points. He led all rookie AHL defensemen in goals with 15 and in points and was selected to the AHL's All-Rookie Team. In 2005-06, Campoli played 80 games with the Islanders.
Campoli, 22, was selected in the seventh round (227th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
