The New York Islanders have named Ryan Jankowski as Assistant General Manager and Director of Amateur Scouting. The 32-year old Jankowski, born and raised in Calgary, had been the Islanders' chief European scout for the last three seasons. Jankowski joins pro scouting director Ken Morrow as general manager Garth Snow's top scouts.
"Ryan is one of the best young minds in the business," said Snow. "He has done outstanding work for us in Europe and I wanted him on Long Island to work with me in building a Stanley Cup contender. By having Ryan on the amateur scouting side and Ken Morrow handling the pros, the Islanders are in extremely capable hands."
Prior to his work as chief European scout -- where he was based in Prague -- Jankowski spent one season as a Western Hockey League scout for the Islanders. Before joining the Islanders, he spent seven years in a range of front office capacities for both Team Canada and the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL.
"I am very excited about this opportunity to work on Long Island with Garth Snow and the rest of the staff," said Jankowski. "I look forward to continuing to build the foundation of the Islanders along with Tony Feltrin, Ken Morrow and the rest of my colleagues on the scouting staff. Our objective, as it has always been, is to keep the organization stocked with talented young players and future Islanders."
