One of the NHL's most prolific goal scorers is now a member of the New York Islanders. The Islanders have signed unrestricted free agent forward Miroslav Satan to a three-year contract. In his last six seasons, the 30-year old Satan has scored 194 goals, tied for ninth in the NHL. "We were looking for a star-calibre scorer to add to our offense, and we have landed one of the best in Miroslav," said Islanders general manager Mike Milbury. "He's an ideal complement to the rest of our top forwards. This is a huge signing for us." The 6-3, 200-pound Satan has appeared in two NHL All-Star Games (2000, 2002), one Stanley Cup Final (1999) and has represented Slovakia at the Olympics, World Championships and World Cup of Hockey. In 2003-04, he was 29-28-57 in 82 games with the Buffalo Sabres. Satan was a Sabre for the last seven-plus seasons after arriving in a trade from the Edmonton Oilers on March 18, 1997 for Barrie Moore and Craig Millar. He was originally selected by Edmonton in the fifth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. www.newyorkislanders.com/pressbox/archive.asp?id=377
